Inventory Management Software

Stock control with live tracking, low-stock alerts and reporting across every location.

Definition

What is inventory management software?

Inventory management software is a system that tracks stock levels, movements and locations across your warehouses and stores. It replaces spreadsheets and manual counts with a live picture of what you have, where it sits and when to reorder each item.

Stock accuracy drives every downstream decision — purchasing, fulfilment and cash. When counts drift, you either disappoint customers with stockouts or tie up money in stock that never moves.

Pain Points

What problems does it solve?

Stockouts and overstock

Without low-stock alerts you discover a gap when a customer asks, while slow movers quietly tie up cash in the back room.

Spreadsheet stock counts

Counts live in files that go stale the moment someone edits them, and reconciling them against reality becomes a monthly fire drill.

No multi-location visibility

Stock sits in one warehouse while another reorders the same SKU. Transfers get decided over phone calls and guesswork.

Manual purchase orders

Reorder points are checked by hand and POs are typed per supplier — slow to do and easy to forget in busy weeks.

Technologies

Laravel Livewire MySQL Barcode API REST APIs Tailwind CSS

Modules

Which modules does the platform include?

Live stock levels per SKU and location, updated on every receipt, sale and adjustment

Threshold-based low-stock alerts by email or dashboard before you run out

Barcode and SKU management with label generation and scan-to-count workflows

Multi-warehouse tracking with per-location levels and transfers in transit

Purchase order creation, approval and supplier send with receipt matching

Receiving workflows that check deliveries line by line and flag short shipments

Inventory reporting: valuation, movement history, dead stock and reorder points

Supplier records with lead times, pricing history and performance notes

Operations

What operational details matter?

  • Stock movement audit trail — Platforms include a movement log so every receipt, transfer and adjustment is stamped with user and time — discrepancies get traced instead of debated.

  • Role-based access — Permissions separate the warehouse floor from the office: staff can count and receive while pricing, suppliers and reporting stay with admins.

  • Accounting exports — Stock valuation and movement data export to CSV or sync with accounting tools, keeping the books aligned with physical shelves.

  • Backup and recovery — Scheduled backups and restore points protect stock history, so a failed import or server fault does not erase months of movements.

  • Scanner hardware integration — USB and Bluetooth scanners, handheld terminals and label printers connect over standard interfaces, so existing warehouse hardware keeps working.

We ship platforms across industries, and our work portfolio collects the products that went live — the dashboards, workflows and reporting behind each engagement. It is the quickest way to judge our work before we talk.

Cost

How much does inventory management software cost?

Pricing is driven by how much the first version must track and connect, not by how many screens it has. Five factors decide most of the budget:

  • Locations and SKU volume — One warehouse with a few hundred SKUs is straightforward; thousands of SKUs across many sites add data modelling, transfers and per-site reporting.
  • Barcode and hardware needs — Label design, scanner integration and mobile counting flows add work beyond plain quantity fields, especially with handheld devices.
  • System integrations — Storefronts, accounting tools and ERPs each need two-way sync, error handling and testing before stock levels can be trusted everywhere.
  • Roles and approvals — Separate permissions for floor staff, purchasers and admins — plus approval steps on purchase orders — expand the permission model.
  • Reporting depth — Basic stock reports are quick; forecasting, dead-stock analysis, valuation methods and scheduled exports turn reporting into its own build.

FAQ

Common questions about inventory management software

What is the difference between barcode and RFID inventory tracking?
Barcodes need line of sight per label and cost almost nothing — any phone or USB scanner reads them. RFID reads many tags at once without sight, which speeds full counts at a higher per-tag cost. Most teams start with barcodes and add RFID only where the count speed pays for itself.
Can the system handle multiple warehouses and stock transfers?
Yes. Each location keeps its own stock levels against one shared catalog, and transfers stay in an in-transit state until the receiving site confirms them. You can set reorder points per location and see availability everywhere before promising stock to a customer.
Does it integrate with e-commerce platforms and ERPs?
Yes. Stock levels can push to Shopify, WooCommerce or a custom storefront while purchase orders, items and stock values sync with ERP and accounting systems through REST APIs or scheduled imports. Failed syncs are retried and reported rather than silently ignored.
Can we count stock without an internet connection?
Yes. Counting screens can store scans locally in the browser or a lightweight app and sync when the connection returns — useful in warehouses with patchy signal. Rules then decide how overlapping offline counts are merged.
How long does an inventory system take to roll out?
A single-warehouse build with barcode counting and purchase orders typically ships in eight to fourteen weeks, depending on integrations and data cleanup. Multi-site rollouts usually phase in location by location, starting with a pilot warehouse before wider training.
